Villa Sarchi is a natural dwarf mutation of Bourbon that happened in the Alajuela province of Costa Rica in the 1950s. It has good cup quality potential and yields, and is tolerant of rough weather conditions, with cherries less likely to fall in strong winds. Today it is mostly found in Costa Rica though there are some isolated producers in Honduras and Guatemala who also grow it. Villa Sarchi makes up one of the parents of the famous Sarchimor family of varieties, developed for their leaf rust resistance.
