Ruiru 11 Coffee Variety

Ruiru 11 is a dwarf variety know for its very high yields and good cup quality. It is also tolerant to coffee leaf rust and resistant to coffee berry disease. Ruiru 11 is the result of research that was carried out after the coffee berry disease epidemic in 1968 that destroyed 50% of Kenya’s coffee production. It was released into Kenya in 1985 but due to it requiring hand pollination to reproduce it’s production has been difficult to scale.
