French Mission is Bourbon that was introduced to Tanzania and Kenya by French missionaries from La Reunion in the late 1900s. The coffee seeds were originally planted in the missions but began to be distributed to producers in near Nairobi in 1899. This is what we know as "French Mission" coffee today.
